Student Council Supports Sandburg
The student council has been sponsoring a monthly class contest to encourage Terracycle recycling here at Sandburg. We started in December and are excited by the big increase in student participation. Each classroom collects items including corks, juice pouches, granola bar wrappers, and chip bags. These are collected, counted and sorted weekly to be recycled. Then, we send them to Terracycle and they pay us $0.02 per item. We just got our first check from Terracycle for $632.00.
Each month the winning class gets bragging rights and their picture displayed in the south lobby. Mrs. Kearn’s class was the big winner in January. We are very excited about this program. Not only are we making money for our school, but we are learning the importance of recycling.

Many of you have a mountain of plastic bags growing in your garage/basement. Put March 4 on your calendar as the day to bring those bags to the King Soopers truck parked outside our school. Let’s fill it to the top!
