 Welcome to Miss Truman's Classroom

Don't forget to scroll down to see what's new.

Welcome!  Second grade is a time for personal growth and moving towards independence. This year your child will work towards building long-lasting friendships, becoming role models, and learning the importance of responsibility. Throughout the year your child will work independently, with partners, and in small groups to enhance their learning potential.

The 2nd grade class has a very exciting year ahead of them. We will begin the year by working together to build a community. As we do this, I will stress how classrooms are communities and how important it is that everyone works together. Your child will also learn about the wonderful world of plants, dinosaurs, weather, and lights and shadows.  Throughout the year, your child will conduct experiments, problem solve, become meteorologists, and take on several more adventures.

You can expect to find homework assignments, spelling lists, upcoming events, and student work on this class website.

It was great seeing everyone at conferences!

The students have learned reasons why the pioneers moved west, the trail that got them there, and this week, the class will discover what the pioneers did once they arrived on their new land by building log (popsicle sticks) homes.

This week we will finish up our prompt writing genre so we can move into writing comic books!

Please encourage your child to write at home, whether it be a personal narrative, a story, a poem, or a non fiction piece.

This week's writing assignment write a story to go with the prompt. Due Friday

Please encourage your child to do their best work.  Not only am I looking to see if the assignment is complete, but that it is quality work.

Please don't forget to send your child to school with a coat.  On cold days like today, they will not be able to go outside without a coat.  As a reminder, if your child wants to play in the snow they MUST wear snowboots.

Don't forget to send your child to school with a snack!
