Thursday, Oct. 16 and Friday, Oct. 17

Parent/Teacher Conferences – NO SCHOOL

 

Clean Up Day, October 11 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm: Mark your calendar and come help us spruce up our school grounds. Bring rakes, wheel barrows gloves, brooms, trimmers and clippers, weed pullers, and be ready to work.

 

Broncos Wives Food Drive: Student Council will be sponsoring the Broncos Wives Food Drive this year starting October 1st and running through the 31st. Bring in non-perishable food items to your child’s classroom for the great cause.

 

Parents of Identified Gifted Children: Meetings for Advanced Learner Plans (ALPs) will be held later in October.  You will only need to attend one meeting to obtain your child’s ALP and information about services for this year and get your questions answered.  These group meetings will be in lieu of conferences for this fall.  Watch Snippets for days and times to be announced as soon as ALPs are written.

 

Open Enrollment: 5th grade parents if you want your child to go to a middle school different than his/her home middle school for next year you must fill out an open enrollment form and return it to the middle school. Check out their web site for more information including orientations for parents, dates and times in October.

Out of District Parents: You must fill out “An Intent to Renew” form for next year before January 31, 2009. See Nancy Linger for the form.

 

Parent Volunteers Needed for Mrs. Fincham:Would you like to help with a project for the 5th grade Veteran’s Day show? Please contact Mrs. Fincham if you would be interested in putting some time into this project. sfincham@lps.k12.co.us

 

5th Grade Parents: Please turn in Veterans’ Day t-shirt order forms to Mrs. Fincham by Wednesday, October 15.

 

Thank you to all students who auditioned for “We Celebrate America”: Mrs. Fincham was thrilled with the turn out and the wonderful talent that she sees in the school! Please congratulate your child on this great accomplishment!

Spelling Bee News:-practice words are available at www.myspellit.com .  Choose word lists from different categories on the upper left side of the page.  The Written Spelling Bee will be held in the Cottage on the afternoon of December 16th for grades 4 and 5.  The Sandburg Oral Spelling Bee will be held on January 8th, 2009.

 

Empty Drink Pouches . . . ch-ching, ch-ching: Did you know that Sandburg receives 2 cents for each drink pouch we recycle? CapriSun, KoolAid, HonestKids, and other brands, they all work. Collect them at your next soccer game/practice, scout meeting, or birthday party and bring them to the recycling center in the front entry or lobby.

 

Littleton Stride, November 2: Mark your calendar for the fun Littleton Stride!For more information you may go to www.lpsfoundation.com  There is something for everyone - 10K Run, 5K Run, 5K Walk or the 1K Family Fun Run!

 

Lost and Found - Only 8 School Days Left:Check out the Lost and Found items by the cafeteria,everything will be gone on Monday, October 27!

 

Enjoy Seeing Art Shows?: Check out the art show at Littleton’s Historic Caboose just north of the DepotArtCenter and Gallery. Several students’ art work are being displayed. Go to Mr. Curry’s website for more information and to see who has their art work displayed.

 

Jungle Ropes Course:There are still lots of volunteer opportunities to help with the Jungle Ropes Course this year. Remember each classroom needs 3 parent volunteers. The course begins on Tues.
